Elephant Hill Wine Tasting

My painting, Elephant Hill Wine Tasting was selected by juror, Jean Pederson, to be included in the 14th Biennial National Art Exhibition hosted by the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.  The exhibition opens on February 14, 2024 and runs through April 12, 2024.

Below is my Artist Statement for Elephant Hill Wine Tasting:

Much of my artistic inspiration comes from my extensive collection of travel photographs.  In the photo review of the trip my husband and I took to New Zealand, I was seized by the photos from the Elephant Hill Winery mostly because the modern building and interior were accented with my favorite signature aqua color.  Inside the winery behind the winery’s tasting counter, were shelves and shelves of wine bottles and glasses.  From my photo, I focused on a singular shelf where the sunlight reflected the winery’s surroundings and the shadows danced behind the glasses and bottles.  The interplay of these reflections and shadows creates a lyrical movement for the viewer’s eye but more importantly it marries the realistic with the abstract.

The 15th Annual Art on Main was held August 12, 2023 in Downtown Three Lakes.

I was awarded Third Place with the judge commenting that my artwork was beautifully rendered, relatable imagery.  As always the kids had fun doing watercolor postcards and pictures.

I had a great time teaching watercolor at a private home class.  The seven students all produced an amazing painting.

On July 1, 2023, Vicki participated in the 3rd Annual Golden Pear Pop-Up Market in downtown Three Lakes. In addition to Vicki, the show featured Monika Fairchild (Jewelry), Rob Ham (Mud Putzin Pottery), Bev Radford (Vintage Jewelry), Tray (watercolors and Pottery), Donna Welhoefer (Jewelry), Linda Wojak (Pottery), and Ann Wichmann (Fiber Folk Art).

Golden Pear Interiors in Three Lakes, WI was host to the third annual “Pop-Up Market” on July 1st, 2023.

It’s Summer 2023 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin and that means the Aqua Devil Waterski Team is having their twice weekly shows for the public, every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 6:30pm.  These kids, ages 10-20 are accomplished water skiers and they really know how to entertain!  If you’re in the area, come see them.  I am supporting them by donating my Aqua Devil cards for their fundraising.

Eola Wind Spinners was accepted into the 55th Annual Watercolor West International Juried Exhibition.  This was my third acceptance which means on July 8, 2023 at the Opening Reception, I will be awarded my Signature status.  The Exhibit will run from July 8-August 12, 2023 at the Coastline College Art Gallery, Newport Beach, California.

It’s always fun to do a painting as a wedding gift.

On July 2, 2022, I was invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Golden Pear Pop-Up Market in Three Lakes, WI. It was a gorgeous day that brought out lots of locals and summer residents to view paintings, pottery, photography and jewelry.  I was also interviewed by a Channel 12 News team about the event.

It was a double thrill to be accepted into the 2021 50th Anniversary Florida Watercolor (FWS) Exhibition with my painting “Anhinga” (above). This was my third annual acceptance which entitled me to Signature Membership in FWS.  Keiko Tanabe, an internationally known watercolorist, was the juror.  In addition to my painting being selected to the exhibition it also merited the following awards: the Mary Ann Hollars Memorial Award, the Plein Air Magazine & Streamline Publishing Award and the Golden Colors Award.  Due to the ongoing pandemic the FWS Convention had to be held virtually but the exhibition paintings were hung by the Coral Springs Museum of Art (photos below).

In her critique of “Anhinga”, Keiko Tanabe commented: “…it takes a developed eye to identify a unique design in nature and it takes a strong skill to turn it’s potential into a well composed painting.”
